While most issue are best left to a factory authorized technician, there are a few common problems you may be able to address on your own.

Water Supply Problems

If your ice maker isn’t making ice cubes, there could be a problem with the water supply. If you’re getting no cubes, or only small cubes, check the water supply lines and make sure they are properly connected and not blocked or damaged in some way. Something jammed against the line could case the water flow to stop.

If your refrigerator has a filter that hasn’t been change in a while, or is damaged in some way, it could also prevent water flow to the ice maker. Try putting a new filter in, per your manufacturer’s instructions. Typically these filters last about six months, but if they get clogged they can prevent ice from being made.

Freezing

Another common issue with ice makers is the unit freezing. If water freezes before it gets to the cube mold, you won’t have any ice. While this could be due to a faulty thermostat, it might also be because the refrigerator/freezer’s temperature is set too low. Check the thermostat settings and then check your owner’s manual to make sure your within the manufacturer’s recommended temperature.
